You’d be surprised how many of us go to bed with the most amazing dreams. The problem with those dreams is people look at them as just that.
You can literally do anything you put your mind to. But, how?
Just do it.
There our many points in our lives when we decide we need a change. Whether it's changing jobs, starting a business, losing weight… the list goes on. In a lot of cases, the things that will challenge us the most are the ones necessary to help us achieve our goals. Don’t let trying times and situations hold you back even more. Stop looking at your goals as these enormous feats that are impossible to obtain. They are merely the end result of small goals you achieved along the way. If you follow the habits of successful people, you’ll see they are masters at setting goals and ultimately conquering them.
Here are 6 proven steps you can start practicing to help you achieve your goals:
1. Change your mindset
Until you 100% believe in your abilities and your success, you will slow down your own progression. Now that you have decided to make a change, you can’t let anything or anyone get in your way. Control your mind to remain positive and grateful for everything you have done thus far.
2. Be specific about what you want to achieve
This could take a lot of time and reflection, but it is important. Write your goals down. The more detailed information you include, the more emotionally invested you will become in seeing the goal though. If you want a new car, visualize how it will look, feel, and how you will feel inside of it. It is also wise to make a vision board or make your list visible daily so that you are reminded of the dreams that can become reality with work. This is a great way to train your brain to expect your dreams to become reality.
3. Make a plan
Write down your plan of action—what you want to achieve and how you can get there, step-by-step. In order to create this plan, you will need to research all of the mini steps it needs in order to be achieved. Browse the internet, take a course, read books on the subject, and get in contact with people who have already achieved your goal in their life. By getting a clear of understanding of how others have achieved the same ambition, you will be well equipped to make progress yourself.
4. Enlist an accountability partner
Not only should you write your goals down, but also you need to say them out loud. It is important to surround yourself with positive, forward thinking people who believe in your goals as well. By letting others who care about you know what you are trying to do, they will be able to check in and make sure you followed through. Don’t have anyone in mind to call? Make a status on Facebook or Twitter. Someone who loves you is bound to check in. You may never who is keeping up with you and wants to help!
5. Identify rewards
Completing the small steps along the way is a big deal, and it’s time you treat yourself. This will train the subconscious mind to focus on activities that produce successful results. Once you have enjoyed your reward, set your next goal—make it bigger and more challenging than the last.
6. Take specific action today
You don’t need to wait until everything is just right. Get started now, and make adjustments as you go along. It is time to get to work. Your dreams will remain just that unless you start to take action to turn them into reality.
